A PRESS BREAKFAST DEDICATED TO THE NEW ABILITIES OF NATIONAL MEDICINE IN TREATMENT OF ONCOLOGICAL DISEASES TOOK PLACE AT THE MEDICINA CLINIC

Within the frameworks of the event the specialists talked about modern technologies in the treatment of oncological diseases, the perspectives of the private-public partnership and the clinic’s plans for the future

Moscow, February 21, 2014 - The Medicina JSC leading specialists told about the innovations in the field of oncology and discussed the area of the private-public partnership during the press breakfast dedicated to “Modern methods of oncological diseases detection and treatment”. The new abilities of national medicine for the patients. The main speaker of the event was Grigory Efimovich Roytberg, President of Medicina JSC, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation,recipient of the Russian governmental prize in the field of education.
During the tour the participants took measure of the modern possibilities of oncological diseases detection, treatment and prevention. The departments head physicians told about the positron emission tomography, single-photon emission tomography, the standards of conducting chemotherapy and the unique methods of radiation therapy. The Sofia Oncology Center of the Medicina clinic possesses the ultra-modern True Beam linear accelerator used to perform radiation therapy in cases of oncological diseases, including the Single dose approach. Today only 13% of oncological patients in Russia are receiving radiation therapy treatment while in Europe and the USA this method is used in more than 70% of cases, - says Yury Voskanyan, Head Physician of the 3d Clinical Department, M.D., professor. - We at the Medicina Clinic are using the modern irradiation technique for the first time in Russia; this technique allows to completely destroy the tumor and its metastases for one or several radiation sessions with no risk whatsoever for the patient.
After the tour in the press breakfast format the clinics experts in detail told about the level of modern domestic and foreign medicine in the field of oncology and discussed the perspectives and problems of private-public partnership Grigory E. Roytberg shared the clinics plans for the future - in particular, he told about the project and the construction of a new outpatient-and-polyclinic oncological center in Khimki.
